Ottawa County was named after the Ottawa Indian tribe who lived Ottawa Countyalong the banks of the Grand River. It has 30 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline.

Holland State Park lies just south of Spyglass Condominiums in Ottawa County. Lake Michigan can be seen on the western border with Holland Channel leading into Lake Macatawa. The Spyglass webcam offers a view of Holland Channel.
